What Pittsburgh start-ups do you find are the most exciting, and have the biggest growth potential?

TL;DR - Anythng that is addressing a truly venture-scalable market.

My mind sits at the earliest stages of the startup process and with a very specific, goofy niche, so I admit that I am not terribly well-informed on the later-stage startups in the Pittsburgh ecosystem or those outside of my own specific thesis for investing and deal-flow.

That being said, I think the talent and infrastructure in the Pittsburgh region is well-positioned to update industries that haven't been updated with technology in the last couple of decades because the businesses in these industries have just been throwing off cash and don't need to update. These are in industries like niche manufacturing, trucking, construction, oil/gas (to a lesser extent), and agriculture (to a lesser extent).

A lot of those companies are led by older business owners who will retire in the next decade or two. Their businesses will either be bought by younger entrepreneurs or by private equity funds who will do everything they can to increase the long-term EBIDTA value of the company. I think that's a great opportunity for technologists in the Pittsburgh region.
